The Clever Rubber Band Hack Joanna Gaines Relies On When Painting

Like most people, HGTV star Joanna Gaines hates getting paint over the can's lid, as it leaves behind a thick, sticky residue that makes it difficult to close the can properly.
To address this issue, she recommends "stretching a rubber band around the entire can." It's a good idea to position the band across the widest part of the can before opening it.
"[W]hen you dip your paintbrush, instead of wiping it around the edges, you wipe the excess paint on that rubber band," Gaines suggests, as it helps avoid drips and splatters.
This setup prevents paint from dripping down the sides. Gaines notes "when you go to shut it, the can is still in pristine condition," allowing the lid to fit firmly and securely.
