The Companion Plant That Will Help Your Spring Bulbs Thrive
By A. R. HOPKINS
Most spring bulbs' short, concentrated colors pair well with Amsonia's tall, star-shaped flowers aesthetically while having compatible growing conditions.
Both flowers need plenty of sunlight, so look for a space with at least six hours of full sun. While spring bulbs crave well-draining soil, Amsonia needs more moisture to thrive.
Overcome this difference using well-draining soil, then supplement your Amsonia plant with organic matter, mulch, and drip irrigation to provide the necessary moisture.
Incorporating drip irrigation is as easy as purchasing a watering globe from Amazon, which can be inserted near your Amsonia roots to provide a constant water source.
