The Design Hang-Up HGTV's Nate Berkus Struggles With And Why
By BROOKE YOUNGER
HGTV star Nate Berkus faces a personal dilemma that might surprise many, given his professional expertise: He struggles with decluttering and letting go of old belongings.
In an interview, Berkus reveals that his biggest design hang-up is his tendency to cling to items, not just those with sentimental value but also ones he considers beautiful.
Even when he knows it's time to part with things, Berkus finds it challenging to get rid of items, calling the process of moving, selling, and donating them as "traumatic."
"The fact that we have the nerve to go out in the world and craft a TV show on something that I'm so terrible at personally was laughable," he says, humorously aware of the irony.
