The Drawbacks Of Installing Concrete Flooring In
Your Basement
By SANDY BAKER
Concrete flooring, while widely favored for its durability, versatility, and affordability, might not always be the best choice for basements.
Concrete's innate porous nature makes it prone to absorbing moisture, promoting mold and mildew growth, and increases the potential for significant, difficult-to-repair cracks.
The inherent coolness of concrete flooring, while beneficial in warmer areas like kitchens and living rooms, doesn't work well for naturally cooler spaces like basements.
Concrete floors in the basement are susceptible to moisture seepage from the ground, posing a risk to any decorative finish—be it paint or wax—applied for aesthetic enhancement.
