The Drawbacks Of Painting Your Electrical Outlets
By JANELLE WARD
Painting the covers of electrical outlets around your house is a feasible solution to spruce up your walls, but electricians and other experts don't recommend it.
That's because if the paint accidentally finds its way into your outlets' receptacles, it can result in damage to the electrical wiring and to the residents of your home.
The majority of paints are electrically conductive, so if they get into the outlets, they can cause the wires to short-circuit and potentially start an electrical fire.
Furthermore, painting the electrical outlets can make plugging in devices more difficult as the paint may obstruct the prongs from fitting into the
sockets properly.
