The Easiest Ways To Clean Your Oven Racks
By ROCHELLE HEATH-HARRIS
Keeping the oven clean is important to prolonging its life span, and a few tips to keep in mind include drying the oven and racks completely when finished to prevent rust, and to line them with aluminum foil to clean up any spills while cooking. Additionally, there are plenty of more hacks and tricks that help make cleaning your oven racks a breeze.
Dryer Sheets & Dawn
One of the easiest ways to clean oven racks is to slightly immerse them in a tub of warm water and about ¼ cup of Dawn dishwashing soap. Then, place a stack of dryer sheets on top to cover the entire surface area, let them soak for several hours, and use the sheets to scrub the racks.
Foil & Tablets
Wrap each rack in aluminum foil individually, then stack them together or set them side by side in a tub of hot water. Throw a dishwasher tablet on top, one for each rack, and allow them to soak in the mixture for two hours before wiping them with a clean cloth afterwards.
Essential Oils
Combine baking soda, hot water, and essential oils into a paste, then soak the racks in hot, soapy water before using the mixture to clean them. Thoroughly spray the racks with white vinegar until foam forms, and let them sit for about an hour before using a sponge to remove any residue.
Baking Soda & Vinegar
After dipping the racks in hot, soapy water, sprinkle baking soda over the surface, and spray them with vinegar until they foam up. Then, soak them in the water for another few hours, before scrubbing away the grime with a sponge or clean cloth and drying them thoroughly.
