The Easy Paint Project That Adds A Charming Pop Of Color To
Your Home
By ALEXANDRIA TAYLOR
For those who don’t desire a statement-making paint job but still want a pop of color, it’s becoming popular to paint just the edges of an interior door.
TikTok user @heygranty says, "how about just the edges for a fun pop of color? This is a really fun idea for interior doors. Just a light strip of color where you least expect it."
This design element is ideal for anyone who may not want to commit to painting a full room a certain shade. It's also great if you don't want a room to feel overwhelmed with color.
Those who like to maximize their decor can take the idea even further. For example, Chelsea Zeferina on Instagram created a disco door using self-adhesive disco mirror strips.
Most interior doors are made of engineered or solid wood, so both oil-based and water-based paints will work. For doors that may be exposed to moisture, oil-based paint is better.
Start by placing painter's tape on the faces of the door as close to the edge as possible. Then, paint the color on just the interior edges with a small detail brush.
