To entice elusive hummingbirds into your yard, plant a Blue Moon wisteria with its sweet-scented blooms to offer the nectar they need, and they may just pay you a visit in spring.
This plant can help attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies because its blooms are high in nectar and release a strong fragrance from their cascading flowers.
Wisteria grows aggressively and must be controlled — it’s a climbing vine that should be planted along a fence or pergola, or it could attach to nearby structures and damage them.
The American cultivar grows up to 25 feet high and 8 feet wide. It likes full sun, well-draining soil, and USDA Zones 4 to 9, and it blooms once in spring and twice in summer.
Hummingbirds will usually visit your yard in spring to the end of summer and sometimes early fall, staying year-round in warm regions or migrating to warmer climates in winter.
