The Garden Flower That Keeps Aphids Away From Your Zucchinis
By DANIELLE RAMOS-SULLIVAN
While zucchini is both delicious and easy to grow, it is prone to pests such as aphids. Fortunately, companion planting marigolds nearby can serve as natural pest control.
Aphids suck the nutrients out of plants, and they multiply quickly, making it vital to address an infestation early on. Marigolds have a strong scent that deters the
pesky insects.
Their vibrant orange flowers also attract helpful insects that kill aphids while simultaneously warding off other common garden pests like nematodes, cabbage worms, and mosquitos.
You can incorporate marigolds into your garden by adding dwarf species to pots next to your zucchini plants or planting taller varieties to create a barrier around the vegetable.
