The Genius Vodka Hack For Keeping Flies Away From Your Home
By MICHAEL ALEXANDER UCCELLO
Few insects are more annoying than flies, and even fewer alcohols are as popular as vodka. Interestingly, there's a genius hack that will keep flies away using vodka.
All you need is a plastic quart bag and some not-so-finest bottom-shelf vodka to fill it with. Then you can hang it up in problem areas and watch it keep the flies at bay.
Poke a hole in the middle of the top of your quart bag, pour ½ cup of vodka in the bag, and zip it up tightly. Hang the bag by the hole and hook it where the flies tend to go.
Another method you can use is to hang the bag by threading a string through the top hole and tying it to a beam, or you could loop it onto a convenient hook or groove somewhere.
You can also use a nail in the wall to pick a spot and hang it up. A quart bag covers an 8-by-10-foot area, so repeat this process until all areas
of fly invasion are covered.
For outdoor fly repellent, fill a spray bottle with ½ cup of vodka and add 2 teaspoons of aloe vera juice and 1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil. Head outside and spray.
A more aesthetic method is filling a decorative jar or bowl with vodka and adding sprigs of rosemary, lemongrass, or basil. It looks good, repels flies, and smells great.
