Kitchen cabinets with a gap above are no longer trendy and can make a kitchen look unfinished or even outdated. Three simple hacks can help create a more polished and modern look.
Cover the gap up by building a faux bulkhead. If the space is already unusable, try to augment and enclose that space to make it look as if it's a natural extension of
the ceiling.
Fill the space above your cabinets with some additional cabinets and added molding for a built-in look. You can also try the Billy cabinets from Ikea for a lower-cost solution.
Create open recessed shelving to give the same open feeling but with a more luxe, finished look. You can also use baskets in the recesses, which adds a coastal vibe to any kitchen.
