The Hidden Downsides Of Using Vinegar To Banish Silverfish
By CLAIRE DANGALAN
Although vinegar is touted as a natural repellent for silverfish due to its strong odor, it falls short as a long-term solution as it doesn’t tackle the root of the problem.
Silverfish thrive in moist environments. They feed on starchy materials, including your documents, books, clothing, and wallpaper, and an infestation can wreak havoc in your home.
Instead of vinegar, try sprinkling salt or diatomaceous earth (DE) in their hiding places to get rid of these pests. Preventative housekeeping measures will also help.
Boric acid is also effective, but since it's toxic, it should be used cautiously if pets and children are around. Call in professional help if your infestation is severe.
