The Home Feature HGTV's Erin Napier Warns Against Painting
By RHIANNON FAITH IRELAND
In Season 7, Episode 3 of HGTV's show "Home Town," co-host Erin Napier cautions against a common renovation mistake: painting over original features, particularly historic trims.
Napier says, "Most people want to paint their historic trim. I think it's a huge mistake 90% of the time," emphasizing the importance of keeping the trims in their authentic state.
Her husband and co-host, Ben Napier, reinforces her point by highlighting the irreversible nature of painting over such unique elements: "Once you paint it, you can't go back!"
Instead of painting, homeowners can apply a gloss or matte finish or a sealant to protect the trim and improve its look while keeping the property's original character intact.
