The Kitchen Staple that Removes Funky
Odors From
Smelly Shoes
By MICHELE WANKE
Reach into your kitchen pantry for salt and sprinkle it into your smelly shoes. Salt’s natural absorption acts as a deodorizer that will remove foul odors from your shoes.
The key to battling stinky shoe smell is to get rid of dampness. Hot, sweaty feet bathe shoes in moisture that creates an ideal environment for bacteria to thrive.
Salt can absorb excess moisture and neutralize the sulfuric scent in smelly shoes. The inexpensive, non-toxic, eco-friendly mineral attacks the root of the rotting smell.
Pour salt into the shoes
and shake them until the insoles are covered. Depending on how strongly they smell, let them sit overnight or up to 24 hours.
When your shoes have sat out long enough, dump out any remaining salt, then use your vacuum’s crevice tool attachment to suck
up any residual grains.
