The Laundry Room Essential That Gets Cabinets Squeaky Clean
By RACHEL ANN MELEGRITO
Kitchen cabinets often go overlooked, gathering grease, food splatters, and fingerprints over time that detract from their appearance and can turn them into hotspots for bacteria.
However, a simple fix exists right in your laundry room: laundry detergent. This hack works for most cabinet types, including painted and finished wood, metal, vinyl, and laminate.
To create the cleaning solution, mix one part of liquid laundry detergent with two parts of warm water. Dampen a cloth in this mixture, ensuring it is moist but not soaking wet.
Start wiping the cabinets from the top, paying extra attention to areas with visible stains. Remember to clean the handles, knobs, bottoms, sides, and edges of your cabinets too.
After you've finished cleaning, wipe the cabinets down with a cloth dampened in plain water to get rid of any soap residue. Finally, dry the surfaces with a microfiber cloth.
Ideally, you should clean your kitchen cabinets at least once a week if you use your kitchen daily and set aside time for deep cleaning every three to five months.
