The Laundry Room Must-Have That'll Speed Up Drying Time
By JULIANA LUMAJ
Wool dryer balls are a chemical-free alternative to dryer sheets that can help reduce your drying time. All you need to do is toss them in the dryer along with your laundry.
Dryer balls bounce between your laundry items and keep them from tangling together. This helps the dryer’s warm air flow better through the laundry, drying it faster.
The wool material it’s made of is also known to soak up moisture, aiding in quicker drying. Other benefits include wrinkle and static prevention, as well as softer clothes.
Wool dryer balls last longer than dryer sheets and can reduce your electricity bills. You can also add essential oil to these balls to deliver pleasant scents to your laundry.
For cleaning and durability, Maytag suggests placing the dryer balls inside a sock and tying them shut before tossing them into the washing machine.
Next, set your water cycle to hot and let them wash before transferring them to the dryer. Do this every eight to ten months, to increase the lifespan of your dryer balls.
