The Major Benefits Of Vacuuming With Cinnamon
By JANELLE WARD
Pet hair, dust, and mold can cause your home's interior to smell musty and unpleasant, but using cinnamon while vacuuming can freshen the air and offer health benefits.
Cinnamon doesn't just have a warm and earthy scent, but smelling it can improve memory, combat drowsiness, and reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches.
Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon powder directly onto your floor and vacuum it up to release the spice's scent into the room through the machine's exhaust.
You can also mix Borax, baking soda, and ground cinnamon into a bowl and sprinkle it on the floor, letting it settle for about 20 minutes before vacuuming.
Accumulated dirt and festering mold can lead to a stinky cleaner over time, but in addition to cleaning the filter, vacuuming the mix will help freshen the machine and the room.
Cinnamon-scented essential oil is an equally effective room freshener, making your home smell warm and sweet, and it also offers cognitive and immune health benefits.
Drop the essential oil directly into your vacuum filter or bag, and the heat of the vacuum will activate the oil, releasing a fragrant aroma around the room while cleaning.
Another option is to place a few drops of oil onto a cotton ball and toss it inside the vacuum's dust cup. Either method can be effective for several cleans.
