The One Place You Shouldn't Be Using A Mop To Clean
By TESSA HAYLEY HELLBERG
It may seem logical to use a mop to clean a bathroom, especially on tiled or vinyl floors, but mops are ineffective and unhygienic for this task, particularly around the toilet.
Traditional mops often remove less than 50% of the bacteria from a surface and can transfer germs between different areas of your home, even if you clean the mop between uses.
The floor around the toilet is most problematic, often containing substantial gunk, including urine. Mopping can introduce these harmful substances to other parts of your home.
Instead, disposable cleaning options such as paper towels with Pine-Sol or disinfectant wipes are highly recommended to ensure a cleaner and more hygienic bathroom.
