The Outdated Design Trends Christina Hall Says Will Turn Buyers Away
By JAHAIRA ARTHUR
Several factors are at play when putting a home on the market — including its design. According to HGTV’s Christina Hall, both carpeting and bold paint colors can turn buyers away.
Carpeting has been a design no-go since the early 2000s, with many viewing the plush flooring as old-fashioned and unhygienic. Hall explains this can be a huge turn-off to buyers.
Although bold colors are great for adding a personal touch, they should be used for your forever home — not for attracting buyers, as Hall claims they can be very “distracting.”
They can stop buyers from seeing the space’s potential too. Before listing your property, repaint your walls with neutral, earthy colors that research has proven to attract buyers.
