The Painter's Tape Mistake Joanna Gaines Avoids At
All Costs
By JACQUELINE DELIBES
Home decorating expert Joanna Gaines wants to help fans avoid a common mistake by sharing the right time to pull painter's tape off.
Most people wait until the painted room is completely dry before removing the painter's tape, but Gaines said that could create a jagged edge instead of a straight one.
Instead, Gaines recommends removing the tape when the paint is still tacky to the touch — but not immediately after painting or while the paint is still wet.
To test whether the wall is tacky, lightly touch the surface near the floor or on a section that won't likely be noticed, just in case your finger leaves a slight imperfection.
