The Popular Kitchen Color Trend HGTV's Hilary Farr Isn't A Fan Of
By EILEEN CONROY
Hilary Farr, HGTV star and host of "Tough Love With Hilary Farr," loves bold designs and bright colors but cautions against the trend of overusing bright colors in the kitchen.
"I like bringing color in, but too much of it is going to disrupt the main design of the concept," she explained to Apartment Therapy. The colors used must form a cohesive whole.
Done right, bright hues can create a sunny, inviting feel, but too many non-complementary colors or too much of the same bright color makes your kitchen look chaotic and cluttered.
If you’d like a bright vibe, keep permanent fixtures like cabinets or countertops neutral, and add splashes of color with things that are easier and less costly to change.
For example, incorporate the colors you want in an accent wall, backsplash, counter stools, hand towels, soap dispensers, flower vases, runners, and even a toaster and tea kettle.
