The Safest Place In Your Garden To
Put Your Hummingbird Feeder
By LINDSAY DONALDSON
The last thing you want to do when attracting hummingbirds to your yard is accidentally cause them harm. Here’s a few things you should be aware of when positioning your feeder.
Placing your feeder in direct sunshine can cause its nectar to become spoiled, resulting in sick birds. Also avoid placing it near windows, which are the main cause of bird deaths.
You should steer clear of putting your feeder close to any bushes where predators can hide. Scope out any bee hives as well to avoid placing it near these nectar-loving insects.
Since hummingbirds startle easily, you should avoid any high-traffic areas, like sidewalks. They can also be frightened by larger birds, so keep your feeder away from other types.
