The Screwdriver Trick That Can Give You Extra Leverage
By KYLE SCHURMAN
DIY projects often hinge on having the right tools or the know-how to use them in creative ways. One simple screwdriver hack involves using a wrench to provide extra leverage.
Some screws are difficult to dislodge, especially in small spaces that restrict your movement and require a short-handled screwdriver that doesn’t generate a lot of torque.
Adding an open or socket wrench over the handle lets you create more force by giving you more space to maneuver. Hold the screwdriver against the screw while cranking the wrench.
Make sure your screwdriver has a hard, six-sided plastic handle that matches the hex shape of the wrench; otherwise, it will not lock in properly, causing damage to both tools.
