The Sharpening Trick That Keeps Your Wire Cutters In Tip-Top Shape
By NICK POLISHCHUK
Regularly cutting through metal takes its toll on your wire cutters after a while, so you need to sharpen the blades periodically to make sure they can keep cutting efficiently.
You’ll need a file to sharpen the blades, and unless the cutters are small enough to hold tightly in your hand, you’ll want to clamp them securely in a vise with their blades open.
Start sharpening by moving the file firmly downward and along the beveled edge of both blades repeatedly until all dents or defects are filed away and the blades are sharp again.
