Weeds such as crabgrass remain a persistent headache for gardeners, as these prolific and aggressive eyesores steal needed resources from growers’ cherished plants.
Fortunately, you can use rubbing alcohol to stop crabgrass. Mix 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol and 1 quart of water in a spray bottle and apply the solution directly to the weed.
You can also moisten some cotton balls or a clean rag with pure rubbing alcohol and apply it directly. For optimum results, implement these methods on a bright, sunny day.
According to Treehugger, rubbing alcohol can dry out and kill plants, so it’s best to use it on a calm day to prevent the wind from spreading it to the rest of your lawn.
Ensuring your lawn is adequately watered, well-fed with balanced nutrients, and mowed regularly can prevent crabgrass from returning.
