The Simple Household Staple You Should Use
To Clean
Your Shower
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
Harsh chemicals and abrasive commercial solutions can
end up damaging parts of your shower. Instead, use vinegar to naturally clean, disinfect, and deodorize your bathing area.
To clean the walls of your shower or tub, mix equal parts warm water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Apply to the walls and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing.
Vinegar is also better than Windex for your glass shower doors. Heat up a ½ cup in the microwave, apply it to the glass, let it sit for five minutes, then gently scrub it away.
If your shower features ceramic or porcelain tiles, you can use a 50-50 mixture of vinegar and warm water. Take care to avoid any stone or unsealed grout, which vinegar can damage.
Even your shower head can be cleaned with vinegar. If it’s made of brass, nickel, or gold, soak it in vinegar for 30 minutes; otherwise, you can soak it overnight before rinsing.
Lastly, pour hot water down your drain, then a ½ cup of baking soda. Mix 1 cup of boiling water and 1 cup of vinegar, add it to the drain, and let it sit before flushing again.
