The Simple Solution To Help Prevent Your Lettuce From Bolting
By KATE NICHOLSON
If you’re getting more tall stems and flowers than succulent leaves from your lettuce beds, this is an indication that your plants have bolted.
The true cause of this phenomenon is a process called vernalization. When lettuce seeds are exposed to temperatures under 68 degrees Fahrenheit, they're more likely to bolt.
A simple way is to store the seeds over 68 degrees Fahrenheit before planting them. You might also try to plant your lettuce as early as possible or select
kinds that bolt later.
