The Simple Straw Hack That Can Fix Your Slow-Draining Sink & Tub
By KELLY CATLIN
Everything from a buildup of hair to oil and debris can cause your pipes to drain slowly. To prevent these small clogs from turning into larger ones, try using a plastic straw.
Cut a straw diagonally, staggering each cut and alternating sides. You can also make "V" shaped cuts, so long as the result is jagged prongs that protrude from its sides.
These little edges will help you catch any hair or debris trapped in your drain. Don't make the prongs too thin, or else they won’t be strong enough to grab the dirt and debris.
Once cut, insert your straw into the drain's opening, wiggle it around to latch onto anything clogging your pipes, and gently tug the gunk upwards. Repeat the process if required.
