The Simple Vinegar Hack That’ll Revive Your Dried-Out Paint Brush
By ROBYN HUNT
Paint brushes must be cleaned after each use,
or the bristles stiffen, challenging future projects. Luckily, if you forget, you may be able to rescue them with vinegar.
Soak brushes that have been hardened with water-based paints in heated white vinegar for at least 20 minutes, longer depending on the extent of the hardening.
It's recommended that
you keep your brushes suspended upright while soaking, and that you put enough vinegar in your container to cover the bristles.
You may need to use your fingers or a scrub brush to remove the loosened paint on the bristles. Wash in soapy water, then rinse thoroughly and either hang or lay flat to dry.
