The Tell-Tale Sign Your Onions Are Ready To Harvest
By ERICA HAWBAKER
An excellent way to tell if it's the right time to harvest your onions is when their necks, that space between the leaves and the bulb, soften and droop to the side.
Another good indicator is when your onions have grown 13 leaves, although onions can still be ready to harvest when they have as little as seven leaves.
It is also important to examine the final leaf sheath your onions have produced. For instance, the most recently grown leaf should be drying up at the time of your harvest.
