The Unexpected Kitchen Backsplash Material That's Super Easy
To Clean
By JULIANA LUMAJ
If you're tired of endlessly scrubbing small tiles and grout lines on your kitchen backsplash, an interior design trend — slab backsplashes — can make your
life easier.
The trend involves using a large slab of the same material, often marble, for both the countertop and backsplash, creating a smooth surface with fewer or no grout lines
to clean.
Marble backsplashes require annual sealing to prevent stains. For weekly cleaning, wipe them down with warm water and dish soap, and use baking soda with water on
tough stains.
You can also use porcelain backsplashes, which are non-porous and don't require sealing. To clean them, create a solution with equal parts distilled white vinegar and warm water.
Spray the solution onto the backsplash, wipe it down with a microfiber cloth, and rinse the backsplash with clean water.
