The Unique Oil That Can Keep Snakes Out Of Your Yard And Garden
By AMIRA GUNDEL
Snakes, even nonvenomous ones, are unwanted guests in residential areas. One way to harmlessly repel them is by spraying eucalyptus oil around your garden and yard.
Snakes rely on their sense of smell to hunt. The strong scent of eucalyptus oil is both disorienting and repulsive to them, given its main compound, eugenol, is a potent irritant.
Eucalyptus essential oil is an all-natural alternative to pesticides that can harm the ecosystem. When you poison snakes, you’re also poisoning other predators that may eat them.
To create your snake repellent, dilute 40 to 50 drops of eucalyptus oil with water in a 2 oz bottle. Spray the perimeter of your garden or yard where snakes are likely to enter.
