The Unique Rose Martha Stewart Has In Her Garden
By JACQUELINE DELIBES
In a TikTok from 2022, lifestyle maven Martha Stewart delights in smelling Scottish roses from her garden and calls their rose bloom "[v]ery fragrant."
The Scots rose features white petals with a prominent yellow pistil in the flower's center, and it is significantly smaller than most rose species.
The rose’s petals are wide open and don't cover each other; it doesn't have the interconnected curls of multiple rose petals or what people think of as a typical rose shape.
The hip, or fruit, of the Scots rose is a blackish-purple color that is used as a basis for a purple dye, which is combined with alum to create traditional tartan cloth.
