This Baking Soda Hack Is The Secret To The Cleanest Outdoor Furniture
By MARCO ROSSI
Baking soda, which is a mild abrasive due to its texture, helps scrub away layers of dirt and soot that make your outdoor furniture look drab, all without using harsh cleaners.
First, prepare a cleaning solution by mixing 1/2 cup of baking soda with a squirt of dishwashing soap in a gallon of warm water. Warm water will help loosen caked grime and dirt.
Add a drop or two of soap — any more can leave behind a sticky residue that needs dousing with water. This exposure to moisture can ruin wooden pieces and corrode the metal ones.
Apply the solution on the furniture with a soft bristle brush, which cleans better than a sponge or cloth. Rinse it off with a hose or a damp microfiber cloth and let it dry.
