This Essential Ingredient Will Eradicate Invasive Johnsongrass
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense) is a difficult weed that can devastate your lawn because it grows and spreads quickly. Luckily, you can eliminate it with distilled white vinegar.
Use the vinegar alone or combine 1 gallon of 5% white vinegar with 1 tablespoon of dish soap and 1 cup of table salt. Ensure you avoid other plants, as this mixture may kill them.
Adding salt helps the mixture sink into the ground. Apply the DIY weed killer on a dry, hot, and sunny day, as wind or rain may carry the vinegar away and reduce its effectiveness.
