This Type Of Toilet Paper Is Best For A Septic Tank
By KIM W.S.
Use the right toilet paper in your septic tank to avoid causing clogs, costly repairs, and environmental pollution. Septic-safe toilet paper dissolves quickly and is chemical-free.
Use one- or two-ply toilet paper and paper labeled biodegradable, as these have smaller fibers that break down faster. Paper made from bamboo, cotton, or sugar cane are also good.
Septic-safe toilet paper also contains fewer chemicals, like bleach or chlorine, that disrupt the tank's healthy bacteria and prevent them from decomposing the waste.
Look for the label “septic-safe” on the product package or toilet paper marketed for RVs, boats, or portable toilets, as these brands are also designed to dissolve quickly.
To test if your toilet paper is safe, soak a few sheets in a jar filled with water, then shake it for 10 seconds. If the paper dissolves, it’ll break down readily in a septic tank.
