TikTok's DIY Wood Plant Stand Comes With Major Savings
By DESIRÉE O
Create this affordable yet chic plant stand shared by TikTok user @woodshopdiaries, which lets you display your plants anywhere in your home. Plus, it’s customizable to your needs.
For a three-tiered plant stand, you’ll need some 2-by-2 and 2-by-8 wood planks, 2½-inch wood screws, wood glue, a miter saw, clamps, a measuring tape, and a drill
or screwdriver.
Use the miter saw to cut two of the 2-by-2 planks into 8-inch pieces, then cut one into 12-, 22-, and 32-inch pieces, and finally cut the 2-by-8 plank into three 7¼-inch pieces.
Before assembling the frame, sand all wood pieces with fine 100- to 120-grit sandpaper. Then, glue or screw two of the 8-inch 2-by-2 planks into the shape of a capital letter T.
Next, attach the 12-, 22-, and 32-inch 2-by-2s 6 inches up from the ends of the T-brace, then attach the shelves by screwing or gluing the three 2-by-8 planks onto each post.
Customize your stand by making it taller or the shelves wider, or make extra stands and join them all together. You can also stain or paint the wood before assembling your stand.
