TikTok's Stylish Hack Makes An Ordinary IKEA Footstool
So Chic
By TESSA HAYLEY HELLBERG
TikToker Dalia Aly demonstrated how you can turn a basic IKEA kiddie’s chair into a chic footstool without much effort or outlay, and customize it to suit your taste and decor.
Grab yourself an IKEA Flisat wooden stool for $54.99 on Amazon, as well as some wood stain, sandpaper, cushion foam, cardboard, boucle fabric, spray adhesive, and a staple gun.
Sand and stain the stool, then leave it to dry. To make the cushion, cut the foam and cardboard to fit the stool’s seat, then cover them in fabric, stapling it on the underside.
Attach the cushion (with the cardboard side down) to your stool with spray adhesive. You can use self-adhesive Velcro strips instead if you prefer the cushion to be removable.
Reduce costs by sourcing boucle fabric from a local fabric store or use a chenille blanket instead of real boucle. You can also substitute the IKEA Flisat stool with any stool.
