Tiling Experts Want You To Avoid This Flooring In Your Bathroom
By MICHELLE ROBERTS-GARCIA
Schannon Yodice from That Tile Chick advises against using vinyl flooring in the bathroom if it contains toxic materials like lead, cadmium, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
She explains to House Digest in an exclusive interview, "Since vinyl is a petroleum product made from PVC, it can potentially off-gas VOCs," which can pose serious health hazards.
For those who still want vinyl, Yodice recommends doing some research and checking with the Resilient Floor Covering Institute for certified non-toxic vinyl options.
"By making sure your flooring is manufactured in the USA or is Floorscore Certified, you can ensure it will be non-toxic," she suggests, offering further ways to maintain safety.
