Turn An Old Sweater Into Festive Fall Pumpkin Decor With This
Easy DIY
By D.G. SCIORTINO
This budget-friendly sweater pumpkin DIY is the perfect way to get festive for fall and create adorably plush little pumpkins in your home to help you celebrate the season.
To get started, you will need dried lentils or black beans, old sweaters, polyester fiberfill, twine, rubber bands, a glue gun, a heavy-duty needle, and clear colored thread.
Cut off a sweater sleeve and turn it inside out. Tie one end off with a rubber band or twine, then turn the sleeve right side out, and pour an inch of beans into the sleeve.
Stuff the sleeve with polyester fiberfill, but leave enough material to tie off the end and for the stem. Tightly close off the top of your pumpkin with a rubber band or twine.
Cut the fabric above the knot, and wrap twine around it. Keep wrapping upward, covering the excess fabric so that it looks like a stem, and glue the twine as you go along.
To form grooves, run a needle through the center of the pumpkin’s bottom to the top. Bring the thread over the side to thread back through the bottom and pull tightly.
