While the housing market can be quite unpredictable, avoiding investing in certain features and maintaining its integrity can help ensure that it sells quickly and for a good price.
In an interview with House Beautiful, HGTV’s Leslie Davis and Lyndsay Lamb revealed that one of the worst features is “an in-ground pool” turned into “an outdoor terrarium.”
Given that potential buyers often view pools as additional maintenance expenses alongside the home purchase, an in-ground terrarium can further hinder the sale of a house.
Another unacceptable feature that the “Unsellable Houses” crew has encountered is carpeted rooms with the carpet covering the floors, walls, and even the ceiling.
Buyers dislike carpets because they feel like a surface that can never fully be cleaned. For the best resale value, stick to hard floorings like wood, vinyl, or tile.
