Upgrade Basic IKEA Alex Drawers With A Makeover Hack
By ANDREA ROMANO
Furnish your home affordably with IKEA, then add a luxurious touch with a little ingenuity. Instagrammer @homewithhay demonstrated how to upgrade IKEA Alex drawers inexpensively.
You’ll need strips of wooden lattice, molding, or hobby board 1 inch wide and ¼ inch thick; paint; primer; chic, new hardware; 60- or 80-grit sandpaper; wood filler; and wood glue.
Measure the dimensions of each drawer front, and saw the strips to form a frame. Glue them around the border of each drawer front, and hide any joints or edges with wood filler.
Sand the entire unit, prime it, and spray paint it any color you choose. When the paint has dried, attach your stylish new hardware, and your Alex will look like it cost a fortune.
