Use A Bar Of Soap To Fix Your Stubborn Sliding Doors
By ROBYN HUNT
If your sliding glass doors are refusing to slide open, a simple bar of soap can fix them by giving the door mechanics a good cleaning and lubrication.
It's recommended that you do a quick gunk removal and wipe down your door tracks every week, but even then, some tracks still remain sticky. This is where bar soap comes in handy.
Bar soap acts as a chemical-free alternative to solvents and greases. Its main ingredient is oil, which helps in the hardening process and acts as a lubricant.
Due to its waxy composition, bar soap does not attract dirt, unlike certain solvents and lubricants that can act like dirt magnets and worsen the problem.
If your doors are still putting up a fight after soaping them down, check the hardware for improper installation, humidity, damaged wheels, or a shifting house.
