Use These Dollar Tree Items To Create A Stunning DIY Sun Catcher
By EZEKIEL MAINA
Picture the sheer beauty of light as it dances through a sun catcher, splashing your room with a riot of colors. Now you can make a stunning DIY sun catcher with just a few items.
You’ll need an 8-inch round cake pan and acrylic beads in different colors. Get Crafters Square Beads and a Cooking Concepts Round Tin Cake Pan at Dollar Tree, each for $1.25.
The multicolored beads, when melted into a flat circle, subtly refract light, sprinkling a spectrum of shadows. Go with translucent pony beads over solid ones for mega sparkle.
First, pour the beads into the cake pan and play around with patterns — perhaps stripes, swirls, or splashes of color — but make sure that the beads are touching in a single layer.
Next, melt the beads in your non-stick Dollar Tree cake pan. Place the pan in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes or until the top is smooth.
Once it has cooled, flip the pan over to reveal your sun catcher. If it starts making a popping noise, don't worry; it's just the plastic doing its final transformation.
Now, use a drill, rotary tool, soldering iron, or heated screwdriver or nail to make a hole near the edge. Thread string through it, tie a knot, and hang it in a sunny spot.
