Use These Tips To Prevent Ticks From Taking Over Your Lawn
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
Ticks are known to carry harmful diseases like Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, so keeping them off your lawn lets you enjoy the outdoors with more peace of mind.
To keep ticks away, try laying gravel or wood chips around the border of your yard. These areas will become dry and hot in the sun, making it harder for ticks to climb over.
Ticks love moist, shady locations, so place swing sets or slides in a spot with lots of sun. Also, build your deck or patio in the sun and away from the edge of your yard.
While you can occasionally find ticks in mowed grass, they prefer taller grass, so keep your lawn, bushes, and shrubs neatly trimmed to minimize your contact with them.
Trim long branches that hang over your sidewalks or porch, and if you like to collect wood for your fire pit, keep it dry, in the sun, and nicely stacked.
