Use This Garden Staple To Get Rid Of Pesky Boxelder Bugs
By CLAIRE DANGALAN
Boxelder, or maple bugs, are often considered harmless pests rather than damaging. As temperatures drop, they migrate indoors, seeking warmth and shelter.
While their impact on plants is minimal, it’s nothing compared to the headaches they can cause when invading homes. Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a natural and versatile solution.
Target areas where boxelder bugs gather, like window sills and door frames. Apply a thin barrier at entry points, forcing bugs to cross the DE and exposing them to the effects.
You may need to reapply DE regularly if you have a severe infestation and after rain or heavy moisture. Always make sure to wear gloves as protection before use.
