Use This Popular Fall Scent To Keep Snakes Out Of Your Yard And Garden
By SANDY BAKER
Placing cinnamon oil in just the right locations around your yard and garden can help you prevent snakes from entering your yard and making it their home.
Cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde, whose pungent smell disrupts the food-seeking abilities of snakes and discourages them from coming into your yard.
Cinnamon also repels rats, rodents, and other insects, which reduces the chance of snakes entering your yard in search of prey even further.
Fill a spray bottle with water and add five or so drops of cinnamon oil for every 8 ounces of water. Spray the high-risk areas, and do it every few days as a preventive strategy.
You can use the same mixture as a type of fumigant for snakes in your home using an essential oil diffuser with cinnamon fragrance — just ensure that the snake has a way out.
