Use This Simple IKEA Hack To DIY High-End Looking Cabinets For Less
BY RHIANNON FAITH IRELAND
Fluted furniture is stylish, but since it can also be incredibly expensive, try this DIY project to turn IKEA cabinets into a one-of-a-kind fluted credenza.
You’ll need two IKEA EKET cabinets, a nail gun, wood glue, 8 furniture legs in the style of your choice, paint, primer, door handles, and 72 pieces of molding cut to 26 ¾ inches.
First, build your EKET cabinets, but leave the doors off and sand down your molding. Attach 18 pieces of molding to the doors by applying a good layer of wood glue.
Position each piece vertically before using a nail gun to nail them in at the top, middle, and bottom. Repeat until every door is covered. For a smoother look, fill the nail holes.
Prime and paint the cabinets. Once dry, add the handles, then attach the doors and legs. Place two cabinets side by side to create the illusion of one large, expensive piece.
You can make the project easier by using pole warp instead of individual pieces of molding. The finished project will be a one-of-a-kind credenza tailored to your personal taste.
