Common grackles are known for their obnoxious, predatory behavior and bullying nature, which is why you really don’t want them in your own back yard.
Common grackles often hang with other black birds forming huge, problematic gangs. Even in small groups, common grackles scare off smaller birds you want in your back yard.
These birds also take over nests or birdhouses intended for other birds, sometimes while they're still in use. They also create a mess when roosting, having to hose down the area.
They eat everything, including food stolen from other birds, crops in fields, and fish plucked from koi ponds. Even worse, they've cannibalized
other species of birds.
