What Happens If You Don't Clean The Deck Of Your Lawn Mower
By JOANNA MARIE
The cleanliness of your mower deck impacts the machine's performance and longevity. Neglecting to clean it leads to a buildup of grass clippings, which may invite bigger problems.
As you mow, grass clippings, debris, and even dirt are thrown against the inside of the deck, which accumulate over time, forming a layer of compacted grass and debris.
This sticky, tangled mess can restrict the mower's cutting efficiency. The clippings can also get tangled with the blades, causing them to dull faster by making them work harder.
Over time, the efficiency and longevity of your lawn mower will diminish, potentially leading to a complete breakdown and costly repairs.
Too much buildup on the deck also translates into uneven cuts and can trap moisture against the deck's metal parts, which can lead to rust and corrosion.
Moreover, cutting grass exposes the plant's interior structure to the environment, making it vulnerable to any pathogens or dirt present on the uncleaned mower deck.
